John Havins
Since 1982, Mr. Havins has tried cases in federal and state courts located in Texas and Louisiana. He has also arbitrated cases before the American Arbitration Association. Houston judges and attorneys have rated Mr. Havins’ legal skills and ethics as excellent. Mr. Havins is admitted to practice before all Texas state courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Tax Court.

Mr. Havins regularly represents business partners who are embroiled in shareholder and partner disputes. He also represents clients with regard to the enforceability of non-solicitation, confidentiality, and non-compete provisions found in employment contracts and purchase/sale agreements. He represents a broad spectrum of clients found in the following industries: oil and gas, financial services, real estate sales and services, lending, commercial freight forwarding, commercial manufacturing and distribution, telecommunications, insurance, and construction.

Mr. Havins belongs to the Houston Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Greater Houston Gun Club, the Harvard Club of Houston, and the Houston World Affairs Council.
Education
Mr. Havins graduated from Harvard University in 1979 with an AB in History and received his JD from The University of Houston Law Center in 1982.
